First descrip­tion: first imported to Europe by H. Linke in 2009. Clearly sep­a­rated from the bintan-​like forms in Jambi/​Sumatra by a com­pletely dif­fer­ent colour scheme. Up to now only pri­vately dis­trib­uted. The male is eas­ily rec­og­nized since it has broad red mark­ings instead of blue in the unpaired fins that make it resem­ble P.tweediei, with a slightly tri­an­gu­lar cau­dal, how­ever. A very attrac­tive licorice gourami.
