Thank you very much for that, Patrick, that is really very interesting, – although huge (144 pages) – but as I am fortunate enough to speak danish I will read it, – it seems to have a lot of really expert describtions of the habitat as well as problems of the area.
One interesting thing that I noticed by scrolling quickly through it, was that it mentioned that in their work (thesis on a particular area of Selangor) they also conveided an examination of which fish were most present, – and they write that by their estimation parosphromenus harveyi is the second most common fish in that particular area (by the number of fish caught in a certain area, at certain times). Thats interesting I think.
    The project is from 2000.
How did you know about it, Patrick, and do you understand danish ?

    Hi Helene,

I can not speak danish, but I can read a little bit. I know some words in danish/norwegian and compare the other words with german and english. I hope I will understand a little bit 🙂

I found this work, while I was searching for some articles about Parosphromenus via google scholar. I found some more articles from springer link, but they want money for the articles if you are not locked in. But I hope I can search and download the articles at the university in a few days.
I found one article for free about phylogenetic relationships of Labyrinth fishes. I dont have the link but the citation is:
Rüber, L., Britz, R. and R. Zardoya (2006): Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolutionary Diversification of Labyrinth Fishes (Perciformes: Anabantoidei) – Syst. Biol. 55(3): 374-397

There is a rather comprehensive bibliography of literature on Parosphromenus, assembled by Dr. Jürgen Schmidt/D. Jürgen permitted me since long to introduce it into the open discussion, but I found no time to do that. Now, a small work-group on literature abount labyrinths has updated it. I shall receive it in a few weeks time, probably.
But in view of the interest the subject matter reveives, I shall send the first-mentioned version to Helene and she surely will publish it provisionally in our menu “Literature and weblinks” in short time. Later on, it will be substituted by the newer version.
