The disappointment about the mistaken confusion of newly imported licorice gouramis to be real deissneri (but they wasn’t) should end by acknowledging the fact that they are a very rare form of filamentosus; we call them cf. filamentosus.
Since I received the fish myself from Tropicwater Ltd. (Mainhausen, D) I see their rather longish and extended fins and the big extent of blue in te dorsal, resembling that fish photographed by Karen Koomans (NL) before years that we show at our species page. The good thing is that Tropicwater ships even in the now beginning European winter to any destination using good packing and heatpacks. They even ship to foreign countries.
Therefore I suggest to all who are interested in filamentosus which has been very rarely traded the last years or especially that variant (that has probably been traded only once before) to send a mail to info@tropicwater.eu and ask for details on the new cf. filamentosus especially as buying conditions and shipping is concerned. But you should not order a single pair alone. Living fish are always individuals, any two of them are different, and there are very strong and weaker/younger fish. Clearly, package and posting costs. But ask and try; it could be rewarding.

Tropicwater don’t deliver orders below 50,00 € plus package and shipping – so it is not possible to order only one single pair of the filamentosus, anyway.
They often have very attractive species – but because of the minimum order value I refrained from ordering fishes there yet ……… It’s not primarily the money – it’s rather the lack of space for further aquariums … that keeps me from ordering fishes for more than 50 € at a time.November 30, 2012 at 6:48 am #4704Peter FinkeParticipantI wrote that posting since filamentosus is a much wanted species but presently a bit difficult to get hold of, especially outside of the middle of Europe. We have breeders in the project who could offer it (ask our distribution service; see button “distribution”) but not being shipped in winter time mostly. This is different with Tropicwater. Besides, the fish that had been taken to be deissneri erroneously is rather a rare and interesting variant. The disappointment of some people because of this error is understandable but one should see that the true identity of this fish is highly attractive nevertheless. And I know that many people try to buy a single pair; in this case too. With mail orders this is neither intelligent nor possible but it led to a lot of superfluous mailings. I did not write it in order to persuade single persons to buy more fish than their capacity allows. It’s helpful that you supplied that limit, of course.

Good Morning, Peter,
no – don’t get me wrong – I didn’t mean to imply that you tried to persuade somebody!
I only wanted to correct the impression that it might be possible to order just one pair. Besides the fact that it is not recommendable to only order one pair, it’s the business conditions of Tropicwater that require a greater order anyway.
And unluckily this means to order 3 pairs of the paros at least …….. which would be wonderful, but requires additonal space, again……… So even if you had the room for one further pair, it’s all defeated by the business conditions …………… You can’t house three pairs, so you get none ………. 🙁 -
