Well, this is meant as a thread to ask different questions regarding how to take good photoes of parosphromenus. I have for years taken pictures with normal camera, video camera, my iphone … and well, – I had to be lucky to get a good photo. And since I love all these beatiful images that we have here and other places of beatiful fish I decided I really have to get a camera that can do the job.
So I am really fortunate now, I got a new camera, and I have got a macro lense + a good flash light. Now I can start, – and I must say I have not been disappointed. But I am also finding out that gosh there are so many things that one must learn, – such a camera has endless possibilities for settings, – and I guess I am more or less just trying things out, not knowing … but learning what works.
Right now I dont have any questions, except how do you really get the glass clean enough 🙂 ???

But questions will come, and I thought we could just use this thread for anyone who has good advice or any questions feel free to ask.
By the way my camera is Canon EOS 600d – the macro lens is tokina macro 100, the flash is speedlite 430 ex2

And of course I have to share a few photoes, – its hard when you shoot about 50 pr day not to have somewhere to put them 🙂 … well I use my flickr account, – you are welcome to look into this http://www.flickr.com/photos/92710850@N04/

    Oh, and one more …

I am actually surprised how often my fish goes with their mouth open 🙂 …

Just thought I would show you my latest p.parvulus photoes – this young male was kind enough to let me take some pictures. Of course he should have done it a day when I had just been cleaning the glass, but never mind 🙂 .. here they are

Thank you for sharing these! This is exactly what my new fish look like, I was pretty sure they had too much red on the dorsal to be ornaticauda but they didn’t look exactly like the adult male on the page for parvulus. Mine look just like the first photo you have of this male.

A very interesting method to take photos is placing the flashlight onto the cover glass. You have to trigger the flash using a kind of flashlight commander. I’ve tried the SU 800 Speedlight Commander with Speedlight SB 600 on my Nikon DX-40 with standard lens and Marumi Close-up +4, manually setting up aperture a.s.o.

These breeding males of P. ornaticauda are lightenend from above:
