In this month, first of tree articles about Parosphromenus fishes appeared in a Polish biggest aqua magazine named “Magazyn Akwarium”. After an almost three years of keeping and breeding paros I felt that I can write something about it. Articles not contains sci data about paros but they are a some kind of diary of my experience. My highlands and my falls…
Most important is , I thing , that they give a reader a few, very important facts( live food, water, aquarium..) and show him in which direction he should go to become a succesfull paro breeder. I hope that becauce of it some new Polish enthusiast will join to our project.http://www.magazynakwarium.pl/archiwalia/book/202-magazyn-akwarium-nr-102013/1-ma.html
pages 12-18….
Greetings!
October 15, 2013 at 4:14 pm #5951helene schoubyeKeymasterWhow I think that looks fantastic, Martin. I wish I understood the language. It looks really as a long and detailed article, and some fine photoes.
And 2 more articles to come, thats a really good idea.October 15, 2013 at 6:23 pm #5956Bill LittleParticipantMartin — great looking article and as Helene says some great photos also. I tried to bring up the text of the article but is it is all blurred out and is unreadable. Is that done by the publisher to encourage the purchase of the publication or do I have a computer problem? I have a friend locally that speaks polish and I thought she might be able to read and translate for me. Well done my friend!!
October 15, 2013 at 8:55 pm #5957Marcin ChylaParticipantHello, Thanks Helene and Little…I was suprised how many words about my adventure with paros is inside my head..:) Third article will be about Parosphromenus-project and my feelings to this great “Thing”. Publisher blurred out this article intensionally – it is a paper magazine rather than a virtual – after a 2-3 weeks it should be readable… Give me Your e-mail Little – I will send You my pdf copy of it…
October 15, 2013 at 9:46 pm #5958helene schoubyeKeymasterI was just thinking that as we have with other articles here at PP of course theres always the possibility that we also provide links here, to online sites or to pdf files.
I understand that when something is published in an article theres of course some rights to be observed, but after some time it may be possible to link to it.
Or I could create a kind of link collection for published materials in different languages, – it may be interesting for future members here to be able to read in danish or in polish ??
What do you think – is this an idea which could be realized ?October 15, 2013 at 11:24 pm #5959Marcin ChylaParticipantVery good idea Helene. I my example it could be a link because publisher have a rights to this article..
October 16, 2013 at 5:10 am #5960Peter FinkeParticipantCompliment to Martin from my side, too. For the hitherto articles and the forthcoming. What you are doing is a great job for your home-country and the potential Paro-friends over there.
Equally compliment for Helene’s idea to put it here in a certain way (article or link) in our Website. I should like to generalize that: Important new articles on Parosphromenus (maybe old ones too, in the course of time) or closely related topics (the destruction of the south-east Asian rainforest, its biodiversity, developments in the situation of the peoples living there, essentials of blackwater aquaristics, etc.) could or should be collected here. As a long-time idea to be followed.
Third thing: If there are important articles in foreign languages which are hard to read for the international community (as is Polish or Japanese) we should investigate if the text could be translated to English by someone (without costs, of course; we cannot pay for that although I dislike the idea). The layout and the pictures could be viewed in the original Version, but the text should be made readable).
In this case: Could your friend help, Bill?
October 16, 2013 at 7:43 am #5961Bill LittleParticipantPeter — Helene and I have been discussing a project the last couple of days with her recent published articles. It will take a bit more work before we are ready to discuss it further. Martin has offered to send me a PDF copy of his articles rather than wait until his publisher permits the general public to view the text of the article on line. I tried working with a German speaking woman here when your first Amazonas article was published. It did not go well. There was too much science and language of the aquarium for her to translate in detail. I could get the idea of an individual paragraph but there was no ability to adequately translate the details of the writing.
Martin: I have sent you a PM asking that you send the PDF.June 6, 2014 at 1:55 pm #6624Marcin ChylaParticipantHello, below it is a link to second of my articles.. It is also blurred out.. but Every polish reader can purchase it for a few PLN . Now it is a question.. plublisher have a rights to this article.. I wondering if we could have a english verison , the publisher will have a right to it also..? I need to ask him and then I could translate it and we can publish it in Parosphromenus-project…
I will back with it soon…
