    Hi!
The last weeks I was too busy to write much here, but now I want to make a continuation of the subject, but in a better fitting category (I miss the category “illness”?)…

I made two new tanks for 1.1 and 1.2 phoenicurus.
The 1.2 tank and stuff was new bought, the 1.1 tank was the one with the ill female which I let dry out for three weeks (also filter), caves and plants I had cast away.

The male in the new tank was the one which the ill female.

In short, some weeks later I found the male dead in the tank and the two females were ill too …
Now I looked for 2-Amino-5-Nitrothiazol as written in the Paro book (the dry form is recommended there, the suspension would help not).

I couldn’t get in short time (first aid) the dry form of the medication, only Spirohexol plus 250 as a suspension.
And I am so glad – both females recovered back to life in a good mood!
For the summer I will let them rest in quarantine but in harvest I think to give them a male again.

I just wanted to post this good news – although the news are already some weeks old …. Because I was rather hopeless to heal these small fish and I feared to have got only the wrong medication…

    Hello Dorothee,
I’m glad your females recovered. I’d like to know if it is advisable to keep a “fish emergency kit” handy with remedies for Paro’s? I have just ordered the book, which I most likely will have a difficult time with, as I don’t read German. Could you or someone else reading this advise me what it is good to keep handy? It can take too long to find the proper medication. Although one hopes to never need it, it is better to be prepared.

    Cheers,
    Jonette

Hi Jonette, my Spirohexol has unopened the date 02.2017. Opened I store it in the fridge for the moment, if you have once opened the stuff it has no more a long life.

As concerning the German Paro book – many of the subjects are translated here on the homepage in a bit shorter form.
