Hi, I’m new to the world of Paros. I first learned about these creatures when reading through the Raffles Bulletin of Zoology, and have fallen in love with them since.

I attempted to catch tweediei and Betta pulchra from the Pontian/Pekan Nanas area to no avail. All I got was one very annoyed snakehead and 8 rather beautiful Rasbora paucisqualis.

I’m considering collecting either tweediei or alfredi for the purposes of breeding, and I’m leaning towards alfredi because the Sedili watershed is closer to neutral pH than the Pontian swamps. However, I can’t find any recent collection spots for either – the newest tweediei location that I know of was located in 2006 and even then, the stream was very disturbed.

So I’m wondering – is anyone here willing to share data on where to find these fish, and how to catch them? I was practically dredging algae and assorted floating plants in a small roadside stream when trying to catch them, and didn’t get anything. For reference on what the stream looked like, it’s foudn at 1.58123 N, 103.4499 E.

Thanks in advance for all your help and advice.
