Tank setup was created by Ted
Attached is a picture of my tank setup. It is a 20 gallon long tank. 30 inches long and 12 inches wide and deep.
I have 2 divider I made lexan, each approx 10 inches wide. This gives 3 tanks of approx 6+ gallons each.

From left to right there are the Ampah, Parvulus and a pir of Ampah, I hope.

I am going to remove the ugly flower pot caves… too un-natural.

Each of the tanks has a thin layer of inert black gravel, large clumps of java moss, oak, beech and fig leaves, anubias and floating Amazon frogbit. There is a small bubble filter in each.

I use RO water and add my own version of Black water. The ph of each is approx 4.6. The TDS max is 24…I prefer 510 TDS but it occasionally drifts up.

There is a heater in each end…that also heats the middle tank.… and the parvulus like it!

Sorry for the reflections on the glass!! Just learning tank photography along with Paros… the 2 go good together.

Did the parvulus use the flower pot ?

I used one in one tank, and this is the one in which the fry did not stay after becoming freeswimming, I think it was too open. They still survived though, just didnt stay the normal period in the cave.

What about the air filter — have you made certain that no fry is going to be ‘sucked’ into it ?

I like your setup, I think its fine.

oh mercy no… the Parvulus are in the Bamboo cave which is not visable. I thought that was a funny part. There were 2 other caves available.. he immediately went for the Bamboo cave.

I will be turning the bubble filter way down as soon as I detect wigglers! I had the same idea. Thank you for the reminder! actually, I am anticipating try to catch the fry as soon as they are free swimming, I have a 2 gallon tank/jar on standby.

If the fry still use the cave when free swimming, I can put my thumb over the cave and move them all to the other tank. A store near us has wonderful 2 gallon jars and I think they would be great for fry tanks. The way the parvulus gobble down Moina, I don’t think any fry will have a chance. When my next tank setup is ready I will move the extra fish out and just leave the pair in the current tank.
