There are bewildering and troubling news from BBC reports that orangutans are treated as “pest” and exterminated on Indonesian and Malaysian palm oil plantations. In the last year alone, up to 1,800 orangutans are reported to have been killed in Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo).

Parosphromenus fish don’t eat and “steal” palm-oil fruits, of course. But their habitats have largely been destroyed by the rainforest-logging. Therefore, fighting that destruction is a common duty for all lovers of south-east Asian nature.
