first photo try Filamentosus?

First photo try on my Filamentosus or Ampha. It does show red but that is iridescence not actual body color, there is no reds brown coloring on these fish. I will try to get some pics of them flaring.

Here are 3 more pics. Again the iridescense shows red. Can’t get the filament to show, I’ll have to come up with a lighter background.

Will try to get pics in more natural light.. I was using a flashlight to help, which brings out some un-natural colore for pictures.

IRIDESCENCE… is it RED or Black…my favorite humming picture.

Iridescence is a strange thing. My new paros(also in an ID thread) also show iridescence not visible with normal lighting but only with flash. In these it is blue, but the same idea.

As far as I know filamentosus has more solid red marks, not just iridescence. Also, sp. Ampah has little solid colour. The fish in this topic look very similar to your fish.

Thank you, so far the fish seem to be sp Ampah, just by lack of color as in most pics I’ve seen. They are still young but have nice filaments formed on the caudal and are putting on some weight now.

I would have expected to see more coloring if they were filamentosus. Soon I will seperate the obivous pair I have.

With 6 fish there seems to be “sleeper” males so there is a possibly 2 more females but very hard to tell. If I take the dominant male out the questionable fish should change to more mature colorations and finnage.

So these are my final pictures. The lighter background has really helped. What are your thoughts on these fish.. I’m leaning towards spec Ampah
The pictures are for males and female and I believe they “show” well.

In a way if they are spec Ampah, we have a problem to a lesser degree as we have with “Dessneri” in that the 2 species of filamentosus and Ampah are NOT distinguished by the dealers.
