From this January 2012 there will be an EnglishLanguage edition of the famous German aquarium magazine AMAZONAS, appearing under US-American license.. In the original German edition there will be a special part on Parosphromenus in the March issue this year which was organized by myself. With articles by Martin Hallmann (on the structure of the genus and behaviour), Horst Linke ( on habitats in Malaysia and Indonesia), master-breeder Günter Kopic (on his methods) and myself ( on the Parosphromenus-Project).
Will it appear in English? See the European Forum (“Scene”) for a reply of the editor of AMAZONAS, H.-G. Evers, after I have put that question to him. He says: the American Editor decides, and probably he will decide against that fish and in favour of more marketable themes as cichlids and catfish.
The consequence: you Must become active in the US! Tell the American editor that you will See that articles in the English langauge Edition! Tell him about ALFA!
I also revealed that Martin Hallmann and I we have written the First Book ever on Parosphromenus. It should appear the end of 2012. We have a contract with a German publisher. We still need a publisher for an edition translated into English.
Look to my mails in the European Forum.January 9, 2012 at 7:06 pm #4051helene schoubyeKeymasterMark Denaro wrote in the European section on this:
“Great news on both counts. We should all make comments requesting the Paros articles on the Amazonas Facebook page. It is very active and they seem to monitor it quite closely. If enough of us do that it may tip the scale.
I hope you are able to publish an English version of the book. I’m looking forward to that!
I should have an article on Paros in Tropical Fish Hobbyist magazine later this year as part of my column on labyrinth fish.
Mark”Good idea to write comments on the “Amazonas”-facebook-page requesting the articles on Parosphromenus in the English-language edition, too! This would be an opportunity to show ALFA being an active organization already.
Since I organized that issue on Parosphromenus, I know of the high quality of the articles by Martin Hallmann on behaviour and the structure of the genus, by Horst Linke on his recent travels to known and unknown habitats in West-Malaysia, Bangka and Sumatra, and by master-breeder Günter Kopic on his methods. He was the first to breed nearly all species a short time after their first appearance in Europe. My own article, the fourth in the series, is less interesting. It characterizes the Parosphromenus-project (and you all know what that is).
In Europe, the (German) edition will appear in March.January 13, 2012 at 11:54 pm #4076Mark DenaroParticipantAmazonas has stated on their FB page that they are likely to run the Paros articles in the English version, though they will not run concurrently with the German version.

Anyway, it will take some time. The German edition is announced for March/April; so the English version of the Paro-articles will appear …later. But they shall appear, and that’s good. -
