I am very sorry to hear that. It looks like dropsy (raised scales and the bulgy eyes) but it might not be easy to determine the underlying reason.

i think its because food countained bacteria…

This often happens at betta fish…

    Hello!
If it was the food – they got (along with naupliae) new black mosquito larvaes from my balcony and microforms …
Both can came along with too much bacteria …. perhaps ….

The other fish, who get the same food, are o.k. …….

many possibilities, but most likely from the food …
and most worryingly, dropsy can spread to other fish …
    but I hope not …

I think that the animal was sick and weakened or they will not give so quickly and are quite capable of resistance. Unless that “often” happens you need to make thee no great thoughts, even when this happens to me sometimes.

    Thank you!
No, it was the only tank.
I am already building up a new tank for a pair of P.phoenicurus.
