At sept. 6-7. 2014 a meeting was held in Hamburg by the Steering Group. In this meeting many issues were discussed and some desicions were made, some of which includes smaller changes at the homepage, – which we would like to inform about here. Also many other important issues were talked about – some also mentioned here.
If you would like to read this in German, please send a message and we can forward this to you.Meeting of the Steering Group in Hamburg, 6-7 september 2014.
New members in the Steering Group.
As mentioned some changes has had to be done in this group. Some members have had to leave the group due to personal commitments with study, work etc, – we therefore have said goodbye to Christian Hinz, and welcome to Stephan Menzel.
We also welcome one more new member, Pavel Chaloupka. Pavel lives in Pilsen, Chezh Republic and has extensive experience with the aquaristic hobby since very young. Pavel has been professionally involved in the hobby and has experience with breeding with many species. Pavel works as selfemployed building biological filters for gardenponds.Distribution
One of the most important subjects discussed was the distribution service of the Parsophromenus Project. This is an important part of our project, and during the last year it has not been working optimal. In order to improve this we now have two people who are responsible for dealing with it, – this is Bernd Bussler and Stephan Menzen.
Bernd has for some time now been responding to many people who were looking for fish, and will continue to do so, as well as keeping in contact with breeders across Germany and other countries. Stephan Menzel will help responding to many people who contacts us from places as far away as Africa. Some investigation into how to distribute over distances, how much the cost will be, – is still to be done, – but our aim is still to help as many as possible – through individual contact – to aquire the fish they are looking for.Maps.
There will be a change in maps on the homepage. The members map will be ended. Instead we ask that if you are looking for contacts in your area, please feel free to contact us on mail. It proved very difficult to update the ‘members map’.

Translation at the homepage.[/b]
We started out by having 3 languages, english, german, french. The main text body of all versions are complete, but to continually update it we really need translators. We decided to ask for help by any members who feel they are able to help – either with english/german or with the french language. We have already had one very positive respons from Dorothee Jöllenbeck-Pfeffel, for which we are very grateful. But we need more people. Please write to webmaster@parosphromenus-project.org. If we do not get some help, in particular with the french version, we will unfortunately have to stop updating this.
Helping with translations is both short and longer texts, but mainly relative short ones.Article section.
There is still much to be done at the homepage, – one of the aims in the time ahead is to build up more knowledge through articles related to our main purpose, – expanding knowledge of all aspects of the parosphromenus species, – this could be more on biotops, more on food cultures etc etc. You are always welcome to contact us if you have suggestions regarding this.
Our new member in the Steering Group, Pavel, will be helping us with this.Contact from Zoo’s in England and Germany.
Some promising and interesting contacts has been made with two Zoo’s. The Steering Group agreed, that it may be of great help to the PP to in some cases engage in cooperations with Zoo’s where important conservation work is being done, and we remain very positive towards this. At the moment the contacts are just in the beginning, and we remain open to see what it can bring in the future.

Facebook and other social media.[/b]
We are aware that there are groups on facebook and perhaps other social media. We welcome of course all initiatives to help focus on the parosphromenus species and their endagered status, – and we will always seek to cooperate with all who are working for the same aim. However, at the PP we have not taken initiatives to such groups because we fear that valuable knowledge and contacts will then not be accumulated for the benefit of as many as possible. So therefore we do not stand behind such initiatives, but will of course always be open for contacts and cooperations. On behalf of the Steering Group, – Helene Schoubye
October 9, 2014 at 7:43 pm #7224helene schoubyeKeymasterI am very happy to say that we already got one offer to help with translation into french, – that is very good. Thank you for that, Herve Gonin. 🙂
We are already a little bit behind with the french site, – but this gives us an opportunity to slowly get up to date. -
