By all that I can find out, the TDS to uS (micro seimens) conversion is basically that TDS converts to 1/2 the uS amount. (uS X .5 = tds)
MY RO system puts out a consistant 4 ppm TDS, so that would convert to approx 8 uS ??
That seems to be a bit marginal for where most the Paros are collected,is that true or are my calculations off? or would it be ok for them…it seems PH is the most important of the water parameters or successful breeding.
Water coming out of my R/O unit reads about 18 uS for connectivity. I mix in dechlorinated tap water to raise the reading to about 35 uS. All my test tanks are 6 gal and I have set up one tank with a box filter filled with Coco peat and I add three medium sized almond leave to the floor of the tank. I am currently deciding if I will add sand or a fine gravel to the floor of the tanks. I have found 2″ clay flower pots which I have cut in half to make caves to place on the floor of the tank. I am currently searching for several plasic film canisters from serveral of my camera friend which will act as floating caves. I will use live plants mainly Java Moss and Java fern. There will be a large fish auction locally in a month or so and I will attempt to acquire several Crypts to include in the tanks. Most of this is all trial and error at this point. I really would like to find something to place the peat in rather it being loose in the box filter – it tends to get messy as the peat comes out of the filter box.
let me make sure I understand what you are saying … Do you purchase empty tea bags or do you remove the tea and replace it with peat? I don’t believe I have ever seen empty tea bags for sale over here.
