What interests me most is: What source of water do aquarists use in Malaysia or Indonesia if keeping or breeding Parosphromenus or rare Betta? Tap water? Rain water? Water from an osmosis apparatus? Or what else? Is tap water mostly conveniant for such fish or is it inconveniant because of additives? Presumably, it must be converted into a sort of black water, and how do you manage that?

Well, over here we’re really blessed by having softwater available from the tap. I know some who collect rainwater and sometimes when it’s dry, we just age the water for a couple of weeks.
It’s easy to add some peat. I can keep them alive for a long time, but i can’t breed them. I think my place is too warm.
