ParticipantPeter Beyer fishing for paros in the Sungai Stunggang and, unfortunately, finding none (in December 2015). Has fertilizer run-off from upstream palm plantations harmed the water quality?

ParticipantA couple of days ago I moved a pair of the newly caught Paros allani to their own ten gallon, hoping to initiate some breeding. Here’s a photo of the male:

ParticipantThe Paros allani we collected in Sarawak are settling in nicely in Seattle. Still young but getting handsome.

ParticipantMost likely Nandus nebulosus

ParticipantLawrence, Jungle Mike Lo, and Peter Beyer in Kucing. Jungle Mike helped us find the best fishing locations and taught me a lot about the local environment.
The reddish waters of the first allani collection site:

ParticipantVery soft water at the first collection site in Sibu, as measured by Peter Beyer. I’ll leave it to him to describe how we measured pH…

ParticipantChecking out some of the freshly caught allani (in a restaurant on the trip back to Kucing)
and one of the P. allani photographed the day after capture, looking a bit stressed in a crude photo cuvette:

ParticipantHere are Peter Beyer and Lawrence Kent, photographed after finding P. allani near Sibu last week. I cannot thank Peter enough for organizing this fantastic expedition. We had a lot of laughs and opportunities to learn.

ParticipantAlongside the P. allani, we netted some additional fish. Does anyone know what species these young, presumably Nandus leaf-fish are?
Lawrence Kent
ParticipantThree not-so-great photos of the young P. allani collected from a blackwater ditch near Sibu.

ParticipantThe Paro Pharaoh (Peter Beyer) emailed to point out that I only posted the pretty pictures of the Sedili site. He forwarded two of his photos which show some of the damage caused by the road building and use in the area. He asked me to post them, so I do below.
Yes, Helene, feel free to post any of the photos elsewhere on the website or for other good purposes.
thank you to all!

ParticipantHere are photos I took at the site Peter calls Sedili in December. As Peter reported, we found no paros here. Mostly we found Tripchopsis vittatus here and Anabas testudineus, etc. (lame photos in photo tank back at hotel)

ParticipantAttached are photos I took of the site Peter calls Sri Burinan where we found P. tweediei in December 2014 (last month). also a photo of one tweediei shortly after collection and one of a betta pulchra shortly after collection at this site.

ParticipantJit, I took a few photos there with PB. If Peter can’t supply, let me know how I should send them to you or post them. I’ll let you know where to send the durian in exchange.
