Jennifer – I took the plunge last week and ordered 6 of the Linkei from Wetspot. I had them shipped 2nd day and they arrived in great shape. They were small and of course went directly to the bottom of their new home and into hiding. It took them 24 hours for them to begin eating. It’s been a week now and they are beginning to come out of hiding but I must be careful approaching the tank. I do see them looking through the glass to the adjoining tank that holds other Paros. I look forward to seeing them grow.

By all means please post some photos of your recent purchase. It would be great for comparison purposes. I received two additional species this morning in the mail. Both groups are quite small and immediately went into hiding. Perhaps with a little food in the coming days they will stay out long enough to examine them. I receive 6 P. Linkei and 6 P. opallios.

They have P. linkei too. Quite big already and in very good condition.[/quote]

This is interesting… Our availability list for distribution is available on Saturday morning (this morning) and P. Linkei is also listed as being available on our list. I noted in a previous posting I would like to have some P. Linkei but they have not been listed for perhaps a year. They will be ordered on the next business day.

Steff — if you read my American post of two weeks ago you will see a similar offer was made by one of our largest importers and distributors. They offered P. Tweediei and P. Nagyi. We are fairly certain the species were not Tweediei and the evidence on the nagyi is still being reviewed. One photo of the reported Tweediei turned out to be a wild betta. We have been promised more of these fish in the coming weeks here in the states and it is hoped I will be able to obtain photos of these species before they depart the from the distributor. Please keep all of us posted on your results.

Take a look at the attached photo. There is plenty of black and blue on the unpaired fins of this male. Depending on the lighting that blue could shift to more of a green. Do you have friends with a good camera? Even some of the new iphones can take pretty good photos for us to examine.

If you are referring to the photos in the gallery the fish in the background would presumably be the second species that Jennifer received and those were referred to as P. Nagyi. I don’t believe that to be correct either. The poor image quality not withstanding, the body shape and horizontal line on the body could support the thesis that the species could be parosphromenus but not Nagyi.

Martin — some great photos. I look forward to seeing additional images in the coming days as the eggs hatch and we see fry. Good Luck

There are key differences between reverse osmosis and filtration. Reverse osmosis removes the salts and other effluent materials from the water molecules. That will not happen with just a plain filter although you may be able to reduce the pH and your TDS may also drop. I purchased a used working RO unit on Craigslist. I didn’t trust the carbon block in the unit so I purchased a new one for another $18 -$20. I attached the RO unit to a freestanding piece of plywood. The water going into the unit is a ¼” piece of tubing about the size of airline tubing. I acquired a coupling that attached to the RO tubing and the other end of the connector has a standard garden hose connector. When I want RO water I connect the unit to an exterior hose bib. The water runs through the RO unit and out into a 5 gallon fish bucket. When I am finished I just disconnect the RO unit and put it in the corner of the garage. I normally make 5 – 8 gallons of RO at a time. Making 8 gallon of RO water at a time; it didn’t take long to recover my $8.00 investment. I measure my water in terms of uS rather than TDS, but you can convert. My RO has a reading of 12 uS coming out of the unit.

Is the last photo taken of the same fish in the first three photos? How many fish total in the group?

That’s a great idea.. nothing like them in this part of the world. I assume it has to be powered somehow? Does it draw power from or through the filter or is there an additional power line? One must assume it is designed to operate on European power standards also.

Hummm… I’m not familiar with this hardware. Perhaps it is not available in the U.S. Do you have a link to a site that provides additional information and perhaps photos?

For those who are not familiar with UV, perhaps you could provide a little more detail of how you incorporate UVlamps into the joint filtration system?

What do you do to get the R/O ready? Do you maintain perhaps 20-30 liters in a container or aquarium? Do you add almond leaves or run an air stone in the container?
