Hello, 720 L for Paros…:) nice.. But, do You put any other fish in that tank , or olny Paros? It will be very difficult to find them in that space.. Few years ago I have only 5 Nannostomus marginatus in 620 L for 4 months. It was very interesting to watch them – they occupy only little space in aqua and they behavior looked very natural. I keep my paros in 1 m long aqua and I give food in only one place in aqua – Paros swimming to that place every time and that’s solve problem with too much space. How many microworms You must to give Your Paros in 720 L – I don’t know but if You try to get used Your Paros to eat in one place – it may works , but it will be difficult.Greetings!

Thank You for answer, besides my fish look similar to those from Helene’s pictures ( my is much yunger but collors of unpaired fins are similar ). So, now I will try keep them in good form and try to breed them, and of course try to take best pictures :)and Maybe some picture ( and observation I’ll made) will be usefull for put in “other species” catalouge… :)One more time thanks!

Hello, finally I got almost perfect ( for me ) picture. I feed my paros by small black mosquito larvae, little daphnia and micro worms – they are doing very fine and become more and more colorfull 🙂 Now I know for sure that they are not P.deissneri 🙂 So what species are they ?? I know that this question are difficult..but any ideas…?

Hello, I know that picture is very dark and we can see only a little piece of fish but I point my attention on the marks on unpaired fin – looks like deissneri…?- (…”single short light bands”) from the description of that species. What do You think about that…

Hi, I know that the picture are not good. I will wait few days until they full acclimate, maybe then, they will show more colors and I will try to do some good photos of them ( it is not easy – You probably know that already :)) I also have doubs about them… They were cheap ( They price was about 1.5 Eur/pcs ) and I think that they are the rest of all catching fishes and they are few species mixed 🙁
Within those 7 fishes I see few with rather slim and long bodies and few with high bodies) I don’t know it is becouse of bad food in the shop? or they are a remnants after fishing and mixed 🙁 We will see after few weeks – I will doing pictures regularly… Thanks for reply !

Hello, I will have those P. ‘deissneri’ on friday. The first thing I will do is picture of them:) About conductivity, I suspect that my RO prefilter is too old ( or maybe even membrane) so I will need to replace them soon. About water, I use water from my 625L tank to water changes in small tanks with paros, I think that parameters in big tank with big sump filter are rather good and constans.

Hello, I can tell something about Sphaerychtis… I had 4 of S. osphromentoides in 625 L aquarium with my Satanoperca. They occupy higher part of aquarium (dim. 160x65x60) and they swimming among plenty of ‘Monstera’ roots ( I use plants above aquarium for lowering nitrogen concentration).Satanoperca ignore them , so they have full space for themselfs…. and… they become extremly agressive. Few week after I moved them to this aquarium one of them was killed by another. Few months later I saw spawn and even female swimming with her mouth full of eggs – but even in that large aqua male still chasing her and one day she jumped and die… ( I’m still angry for myself that I did’t seperate her – but I thought that in such large aquarium she will be fine…) And one more thing… Sphaerychtis is most inteligent fish I know – when Satanoperca spawned – they find every occasion to eat the young – even if I seperate brood using plexi plate – gouramis find they way..:):)

Parosphromenus in my observation are more delicate and not that agressive. But if we give them peace and quiet they show us their beauty

Hello, becouse I’m still waiting for my P. deissneri I’m during set-up a new tank for my P.sumatranus. I have one problem – in small tank ( 10-15 L) without eletric heater are probably big temperature changes beetwen day and night ? Is this good for Paros ? What max and min. temperature is ideal (like in natural habitats) for paros ? and is this could be generalize for all species?

Hello, Thank You Hellene for Your reply. I have smaler 30L aquarium and probably I will move my P. sumatranus pair + young to this tank. Bigest tank will be for P. deissneri – I will have them tommorow. I asked are they really P.deissneri and I get answer that this man have this fishes from some Asian shop and they are wild and for sure P. deissneri – we will see :):) I take photo as soon as I get them.
Becouse like I said I have long term experience with Satanoperca and biotodoma species – I have a lot of water with pH – 4.5 and conductivity around 80-110 us. I use nut shell as tannins source and use plants witch grow above the water surface for decrise nitrate level. I also do weekly 20% water changes for my big ( 630L) tank , so I change little of water in my paros tank the same time. Greetings!
