Wow! They look very small, and I imagine that it is not easy to visit them.

Thank you fo those nice pictures.

    Hello everybody,

I have to tell you the latest news about my new friends:

After letting them swim the paros were hiding behind leafs and between the roots of the floating plants, like I expected. But unexpectedly I saw the first 2 of them swimming free only 5 hours later! They were using the whole tank, inspecting the wood and the plants, tasting the artemia nauplies and looking at the scene outside of their tank. And after 7 hours I could see them all – not very shy and reserved, but curious.

I am really pleased about that. Seems like the water conditions are ok and the tank is well enough planted.

Here you can see the first pictures of my new friends:

This is one of the juvenile males:

This one is the second smallest fish (Maybe a male too? We will see):

And a snapshot after setting them free, called “I am a motionless leaf only, you can’t see me”

    Thanks for your compliments!

I didn’t have any preferences and so I have been chosen P. nagyi because an experienced breeder and member of our Paro Project lives at my region (only 100 km away). He offered me to buy 2 young couples and I am happy to get them.

In the afternoon, when I am back home with the paros, I will try to take some snapshots of them because I suppose not to see them very often. Indeed there are lots and lots of hiding places.

    I’ll keep you informed!

    Hello everyone,

let me fetch back the idea of marking the towns, where Paro-breeders and friends are living nearby. I proposed to use the possibilities of the Joomla-module: To take different signs for single people (star) and for the towns (gouse icon).

I would be pleased if I could help accomplish these work.

    Hello,

in the last year I used a substrate like nutrasoil in another tank. In fact, it reduced the PH and GH, but the effect only was noticeable for about a half year. After that period of time the value decreased, and after 1 year the values of the water were nearly the same as using sand as substrate.

I would not rely on nutrasoil to get the perfect PH and GH.

    Hello all,

that sounds interesting, thank you both for that information. Now I have to find out where I can get some of those Asellas.

    Have a nice day,

Helene could set the “Zoom” in the settings for the mapping tool down to 1, and the whole world should be shown.

The mapping tool is able to simply generate the precise coordinates using the postal code and, if desired, the exact address. No special knowledge is needed, it lloks great to me.

Fortunately I am able to test website-plugins (especially Joomla-Plugins) on my PC at home and on the website of my “fish club”. And so I tested a combination – both, names and locations – there and like to show you the result here:

    ATV Rheydt

I marked my home place as an arrow, named, and marked our clubhouse using another sign, a “house”.

So we could differenciate the “anonymously” locations and the “named” places, if our Paro-friends like to name their markers. And we may add some additional informations to the names, if wanted.

Do all PP-Member have accounts here at the PP-site? Will it be possible to locate all of them here at our map?

In my opinion it would be enough information to see the name of the location instead of the peoples names. That would prevent problems like data security and it would make it easier to update special informations, for example the species that are available at the viewed location.

And because no persons name would be displayed, I suggest to mark all known towns, where Paro-breeders reside. Only the GPS data will be needed to update the map.

What do you think about that idea?

    Hello,

let me hook up to your theme with another question:

Would it be recommended to place some snails into the tank, if some sand has been used as substrate? Can snails live in that specific water?

Oh, looks like I started a great discussion here 🙂

I am happy to see the capabilities outside our forum, but I ask myself: We already have included a good map here. Shouldn’t it be possible to use these system for another map, too?

For the website of my Aquaristikverein (I don’t know how to spell it in english) I used Joomla (the CMS that works here) and I am a bit familiar with ist. If it could be helpful, I offer to support Helene.

And related to the data security, I suggest only to mark the known locations manually. Or is there a need to expose the breeders in particular? This would require some more work at the beginning, but I think it would be worth it.
