Information and networking : The two aims of the Parosphromenus – Project homepage
A book can, when published, not just easily be changed after publication. A good website is different : It is alive, never finished, will continually be expanded, improved and , developed. It is a true building-site. We hope that with this in mind we will keep this homepage for the Parosphromenus- Project alive for a long time.
We will try to link two things together here : Good information and networking. The good information is concerned with a group of small labyrinth-fishes, the Parosphromenus Species, (licorice gouramies) that up to now have been rather neglected on the Internet. The networking is concerned with the people who love this fish. We must do something to prevent that the fishes become extinct, – in nature as well as in our aquariums. For this reason we have, from 2005, been building an ever growing network of people, – and this homepage intends to further these contacts, also with as well as having the aim to coordinate trade between us.

A very important menu-point in the top menu is the SPECIES – sub undermenu:- ‘OTHER SPECIES’.
Through this menu you will come to a very extensive species index, with descriptions and images of all the known species + a section in which we – in time – will provide information regarding all the different undescribed species or hitherto known additional forms or variants. We will attempt to provide as much as we can of beautiful precise images as well as gather as much information that we are able to. In this way we hope to be able to assist interested persons with information which can help them give their fish the correct identification, as well as assist them in understanding the special properties or requirements of a species or other and forms.

In this menu we have gathered much information we have and find relevant. When you press on one of the 3 head menu’es quite many chapters will open and you can read the information.
1. The project: Aims, management and membership – the description of the network, the project itself, how it started, what its aim and goals are, who is involved etc.
2. The fish: All about the licorice gourami-group, about their endangered position, their needs and requirements and the destruction of their natural habitats.
3. The aquarium : Advice on the licorice gouramis as inhabitants of aquaria – with information regarding their proper keeping and breeding.
4. Literature – with a list of relevant books, magazines and other sources of information.
