CLASSIFICATION OF PRIOR SPECIES FOR CCP-2023

Category 1

Species, whose wild population under immediate threat of extinction or without updated data from field for long time or difficult to obtain in EU.

This category we split into 3 grops

Group1

Species we do not have now in EU

P. gunawani  Update 2024: P. gunawani is now in Europe and in intensive breeding program.

P. harveyi (original from type locality)

P. rubrimontis (original from Perak) P. rubrimontis was imported in 2023, offspring reported

Actions are being prepared for this group

Group2

Species covered by physical facility/organization

P. Paludicola (wild population less easy to obtain in EU

P. filamentosus (current population supposed from original areas, which now no longer updated)

P. quindecim (wild population CR and hard to obtain)

P. deissneri (endangered habitat)

Actions taken by personal contacts with each organisation

Group3

Species we still have in CCP BUT need intensive active efforts to maintain the population, otherwise soon disappear and hard to obtain new population due to extinction in wild or practical difficulties.

P. alfredi: wild population currently extinct, CCP population very limited

P. barbarae: wild population currently extinct, CCP population very limited

Update 2024 Only one sex remain, so the species is extinct in private ex-situ

P. bintan Original population from TypeLocality Bintan Island : wild population currently CRCCP population stable but breeders not enough –

Update P. Bintan SOLVED Now in breeding program with Citizen Conservation, Germany

P. kishii: wild population currently CRCCP population stable but further wild population hard to obtain, need immediate amplification of ex-situ population in EU

P. pahuensis: CCP population very limited, wild population hard to obtain, need immediate amplification of ex-situ population in EU

P. tweediei: wild population currently CRCCP population very limited

Actions for this group is very important, and we will try to take personal contact in all cases

We shall follow up the progress of this part regularly. And we ask for all possible helps from the PP.

Category 2
